The Doctor is in – but probably not the one you were expecting.

You may ask yourself, what is the 'Rebirth Universe' and why is it called that?

Doctor Who: The Rebirth Universe is a new series of non-profit Doctor Who stories set within an alternate timeline from the main show's. Many of the stories will have a more mature tone to them along with including concepts or ideas that wouldn't ever make it on the actual show.

This new series of novels will be written by two fans of the show, Coleman Dekker and Jacob Piva who intend to introduce some intriguing concept and story ideas that they're hoping people will enjoy.

Jacob Piva said: "My friend Coleman originally pitched the idea of getting back into writing Doctor Who stories and he asked me if I also wanted to collaborate with him. I immediately jumped onto the offer and I'm so happy to be working on this series. I can't wait to reveal more about it."

Coleman Dekker added: "We wanted to go with our own timeline but still very much keep in mind the actual show and the expanded media that's a part of it. So, in a way, that's why it's called the Rebirth Universe. All we can say is stay tuned."
